Elf Cream/Liquid Eyeshadows: A review

Hello my gorgeous girls :)
Today I had some time to do a review on some eyeshadows bought from ELF cosmetics.

First, the Duo Eyeshadow Cream in Mocha Swirl.

Elf claims
Express yourse.l.f. with the easy to blend, crease resistant, creamy duo eye shadow colors. Each gorgeous shade can be worn alone or together for a dramatic effect. The soft-blending formula can also be layered under powder eye shadow to set the color in and keep it lasting vibrant all day.

Net weight: 0.1oz (3g)

Ingredients : Isopropyl Palmitate, Paraffinium Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Petrolatum, Ceresin Wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Mica, Synthetic Beeswax, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, BHT, Iron Oxides (CI 77491 , CI 77492 , CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) Yellow No.5 Lake (CI 19140), Red No.40 Lake (CI 16035) Ultramarine Violet (CI 77077), Blue No.1 Lake (CI 42090)

Pros :

1. Great consistency - super easy blending

2. Cheap ! €1.70/Duo
3. Very very pigmented
4. Can be used alone or as a base for more intense color
5. pretty long lasting
6. color variety - 8 more duos

Cons : Creases without a primer if applied heavily

I would totally recommend this product ! It gets 9/10 for me ! It easy to use, effortless and gives a polished result. I use it just by applying the brown shade all over the lid and rubbing it slightly on the crease. Despite my oily lids, without a base it lasts a good 3-4 hours. Looks fresh, some shimmer not very intense... It's a great deal especially for summer when nobody wants powdery lids.

Which takes us to the next reviewing product... Not so happy about it!

ELF Liquid Eyeshadow in Mocha Madness

Elf claims :
The pigment rich Liquid Eyeshadow dries to a water tight finish to give endless staying power so you can take your look from day to night without looking faded. The colors won't crease or smear, and they won't budge until you take them off. An alternative to traditional eye shadows, these lightweight colors are exceptionally gentle for a silky smooth finish. The quick dry formula allows for fast and easy application.
Net weight : 1ml

Clean & sleek packaging ?

Cons :
1. No color payoff - Not EVEN blend-able!
2. Dries out immediately - no time to rub

As you can see above when just applied is very pigmented,
but when i tried to blend it , it disappeared!!!
After rubbing it, it transferred completely on my finger!

Overall ? 0/10 horrible! Complete waste of money! I wouldn't recommend it to noone ! I should have bought another duo from the cream shadows.

So, I hope my review was enlightening ! I am going back to my desk now to study!
Isn't the weather beautiful today ?
Have you made any disappointing purchases recently ?

Take care and wear sunscreen !
Kisses :D

  1. I have an e.l.f. liquid eyeshadow and I agree with you, once it's blended, the colour dissappears. I shound try the cream eyeshadow duo!

  2. yes its a total waste of money. no color payoff at all. you should definitely try the duos ;)

  3. The cream eyeshadow duo looks gorgeous!!!
How does it perform with a primer? Does it help with the creasing/can you get more hours of wear out of it?

  4. To be honest, this product is amazing. But you need a good primer underneath. Without it (and with a very light wash) it creases in 2-3 hours on my oily lids. With primer ( elf primer) it lasted 5 hours. Maybe with UDPP you could get more time.
